In John 16, Jesus talks about the Holy Spirit. He starts to tell them, but only gives them enough information about it because it is too much to bear at that time. The Holy Spirit brings the conviction of God as explained. We must obey what the Holy Spirit is telling us because His source of information is from Jesus himself. If you’re not sure what that’s like, then you must draw closer to God through fasting and prayer and ask God for the ability to hear or be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. It’s not loud, but as gentle as a whisper.
And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. (1 Kings 19:12 NLT)
