Victor UsherParticipantThe book of Daniel was a good book. There were a lot of visions that he received from the Lord and prophecies that all came to pass. The writing on the wall captured my attention as it reminded me of a Scooby-Doo movie 1998 Zombie Island. There was a scene in the movie where one of the apparitions wrote on the wall. Outside of all of that, I found myself very interested in the first five chapters. Reading the interpretation of the dreams and just rereading the scriptures left me in awestruck like, how did Daniel just know this? Daniel was a disciplined fellow. The 21 days fast, plus his determination to not defile himself with wine & delicacies, was kind of inspiring. “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Daniel 1:8 NKJV
Overall, this was an interesting read.

Eileen AhumadaParticipant<span style=”color: #444444; font-family: Lato; font-size: 14px;”>In this book of Daniel. Daniel lived during a time when the Jewish people seemed to have little hope. They were living as captives in Babylon. Hundreds of miles from home, with only promises from God that they would ever see their homeland again. Daniel was taken to Babylon as a young men. Although he was a captive. He received a education and rose to high positions in the Babylonian and government. But because of his faith in God of Israel he was persecuted and even sentences to death. But God rewarded him for his faithfulness and he was recued from death. This reminds me that as long as were are obedient to the Lord we will always have favor!</span>

Tammy AhumadaParticipantThe book of Daniel holds one of the most popular Bible stories ever, Daniel and the lions den. Daniel was taken prisoner to Babylon and was noticed and being exceptional in stature. He was strong and healthy and he along with his friends Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego were chosen to be study for 3 years at the palace to be advisors to the king. It happened that when Daniel’s 3 friends refused to bow down the the golden image Nebuchadnezzar created he had them thrown into the furnace that was heated 7 times hotter than normal. And in the end they came out without even the smell of smoke on them. Daniel was given the gift of deciphering dreams and was used by Nebuchadnezzar to figure of what the dreams he was having meant. When Daniel refused to bow down and pray to King Darius Daniel was thrown into the infamous Lions Den when he obviously came out unscathed. The book of Daniel end with a series of visions that are so strange that the angel Gabriel has to come explain them.

Diane MartinezParticipantThe book of Daniel begins with King Nebuchadnezzar selecting the strongest, and gifted with knowledge men to serve him in the royal palace. among the men were Daniel, Meshach, Shadarach, and Abendigo. It goes on to tell that Daniel was the only only who could interpret the king’s dream because God had given Daniel the gift to do so. The king was so impressed with Daniel that he gave him a high position in the palace. during his reign king Nebuchadnezzar built a statue made of gold and wrote a decree saying that everyone must bow down to worship this idol. Daniel and his friends refused to do that, they would not dishonor their own true God. The king became enraged and had the 4 men thrown into the fiery furnace. They were not afraid, they knew their god would protect them. The king was so mad he ordered the furnace to be turned up 7 times hotter than usual. The men were not even burned. The king immediately praised their god. the men were promoted to even higher positions. Daniel continues to interpret visions for the king, the vision come to pass just as Daniel had said they would. Daniel tried to warn the king to repent, but he did not. Nebuchadnezzar was driven from human society he ate grass. After time had passed he finally repented and he praised God. He was restored to his kingdom. Daniel remained in position. Daniel was also thrown into the den of lions for praying when he wasn’t suppose to. The lions did not harm him because he trusted his God.

Anna LueraParticipantThe Book of Daniel Shows Gods faithfulness to Daniel an Israelite, Abraham, and His holy people, when they remain faithful to God and His commands/ laws. Daniel was captured by King Nebuchadnezzar’s government and taken to Babylon. God used Nebuchadnezzar to punish His people of Israel. No matter the situation Daniel walked according to Gods will. He walked with integrity, honored the people and always glorified God in every circumstance. God gave Daniel prophecies for the future for what was to come for the kingdom. Even facing death Daniel endured fasting and, prayed faithfully not just for himself but for the people! All it takes is one to truly believe in the God of Abraham so others including kings and kingdom will come and worship the true King of Kings and Lord of Lords God the all mighty.

Michelle ChowParticipantMichelle Chow- The Book of Daniel- Week 3
Daniel was was a young & intelligent man taken into captive to Babylon by king Nebuchadnezzer along with three other young men. In this book he lives an uncompromising life and is used by God to reveal the future to the government officials and to the people of God. The king wanted these men to serve in his palace. Although Daniel became a servant he refused to compromise his time in worshipping the One True God. So God grants him favor with the government officials. God also gave Daniel the ability to interpret dreams.
The purpose of this book was to show how God can use the life of an upright person who sets their heart upon Him and to reveal significant prophetic events on Gods timeline. Daniel set a perfect example for us to follow, he never compromised his beliefs and was always found seeking The Lord in prayer. There was a relationship between his devotion with God and how he was used by God. We too can experience the power of God in and through our lives when we commit ourselves wholeheartedly unto Him.
Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, we should always stand for what is right. God is greater than any punishment that could come upon us whether He delivers us or not. If God could keep the fiery furnace from consuming the three men and shut the mouths of lions, He is worthy to be trusted . He knows what’s best for us and He honors those who trust and obey Him. God is in control of everything and knows the end from the beginning and we can be assured that what He says will surely come to pass.

Mario AhumadaParticipantThe book of Daniel opens up with Nebuchadnezzar choosing the finest men to go through a training course that would last 3 years. At the end of this course these men would serve in the palace. Among the men that were chose were Shadrach, Meshac, Abednego and Daniel. These men were favored by God and he protected them from the deadly furnace and protected Daniel from the infamous Lions Den. Daniel was used to interpret dreams and he was used in the royal court. This books shows us that when we stand for what we know God has told us to do and allow ourselves to be used by him that he will protect us and guard us for the rest of our days.

Kimberly ValverdeParticipantThe book of Daniel is the apocalypse of the Old Testimony as Revelation is the apocalypse of the New Testament. Daniel is known as the prophet of “the times of the gentiles.” Daniel received many visions from God about future events, some that have already happened and some that are still to come. Chapter 3 tells us about the fiery furnace which is a great reminder that nothing is impossible for the God we serve. The mention and calculation of the weeks in chapter 9 is still a bit confusing to me.

Rubin ValverdeParticipantThe book of Daniel teaches the entire period of Gentile rule, from Daniel’s day to the second coming of the Messiah. This book includes prophecy, prayer, apocalyptic visions, and insight to spiritual warfare. Daniel shows that the God of the heavens also rules here on earth even when it seems out of control.

Lewis MadridParticipantDaniel in chapter 10 fasted and prayed 21 days not losing heart or growing weary but was determined to her from god like times before, lol did he know the ark angel Michelle came to his defense because the prince of Persia a force of darkness tried to stop Daniel from the answer to his prayer.

Heather TrevinoParticipantThe book of Daniel brings us to the completeness of the prophecies that Jeremiah had been telling the people of Israel about and now they came to pass. The Israelite’s had been conquered by the Babylon’s. Nebuchadnezzar was in rule and he forbid the Israelite’s to worship God. He wanted them to worship him and the gods of the Babylonians. But there was Daniel and group of others who despite what might happen they would not and did not obey. Daniel knew that no matter what God was still on the throne. God used Daniel and these other men to show that He still had dominion over everything no matter who is in power on this earth. I thought it was so amazing how even in all of this Daniel and the other men did not act proud when they refused but refused with pose and a humble nature. Just as God had always commanded that we treat our enemies. They were able to keep there standards of what they ate without making a issue. Because of that God was able to be glorified in it every time. When they ate only greens they became fat. When Shadrach , Meshach and Abednego were thrown into the fire God showed up on there behalf and the same when Daniel is thrown in with loins. God also made it very clear to me that no man on this earth can do anything that he can do. It really is like that saying it’s a lot of smoke and mirrors tricks. God is the only one who knows everything about us. Our dreams our desires and our fears. He knows are beginning and our ends because He has seen and been there in it all. Even our enemies will have to confess with there very own mouth that Christ is Lord. The book of Daniel also showed me that when we make the choice to always obey God in every part of our lives it goes well for us. Gods hand of protection is over us. We should be willing to keep our standards in who we are as followers of Christ even if we die because of it. God is with us no matter what and either way it is a win.
