I love Proverbs! This book is practical advise on all types of issues that come up in every day life. These type of issues could range from work ethics, marital situations, how to raise your children and even financial advise. At its basic core, Proverbs are instructions on how to live a life of discipline and be successful in doing it. Most attribute Solomon as the author of most of them but many older Jewish men also contributed to them as well.

Ecclesiastes is a summary of life who most believe is written by Solomon. It summarizes that we’re born, we live and then we die and there is an appointed time for each one of these things to take place. And then after that life goes on without us. Seems like a very sad and bleak outlook on life doesn’t it? But in the end the story does change a bit, he suggests that we live a life that would bring glory and gratitude to our creator God and tells us to “do what he tells us”.

Song of Solomon most believe, but not all, that this is a book or song written by Solomon. It’s a love story between a man and a woman. It goes into detail and describes the looks, and feelings they both have and the underlying desire to engage in sexual relations with one another. It speaks of a love that will not die but go on forever. It’s odd at times to hear how these two describe one another, mainly the male as he says “Your eyes are like doves behind your veil” or “Your breasts are like two fawns” where as the woman says, “Your legs are like marble pillars” or “Your posture is stately”. It’s obvious that even back then women could put their feelings into words better than men can.
