Jeremiah recorded the Book of Lamentations to express his grief over the tragic destruction of Jerusalem and the exile of its inhabitants to Babylon. Through  poetry, the book of Lamentations graphically describes the destruction of Jerusalem and the exile of its people. There is very little comfort in Jeremiahs lament, though in Chapter 5 his prayer does look beyond the desolate ashes of Jerusalem as he pleads to God, Those throne endures forever!
