The book of Joshua tells the story of the early years of Israel. A nation that was created by God. God’s chosen people were finally in God’s land! Joshua was hand picked/chosen to be Moses successor. Joshua was commissioned for leadership. To lead the Israelites into the promise land. After Moses died. Joshua sent out two spies to spy out the new land. Two of the spies came back with a positive report. the house of a prostitute. Rehab and the two spies stayed there. The King of Jericho was told that there are two spies. That have been sent to spy out the whole land. The King of Jericho wanted Rehab to bring out the men who entered her house. Rehab did not honor the king of Jericho’s demands. Rehab hide the spies instead because she feared the Lord and she wanted the men to swear to her. That nothing would happen to her or her family. So they did and as a result of their obedience to God. god worked this situation out. In ways that we can’t imagine! which goes to show. That God can use anyone. To perform a miraculous work! The book of Joshua is set up in three different components. 1.) Entering the Land 2.) Conquering the Land 3.) Occupying the land. The book of Joshua also shows the transition that the Israelites had to make spiritually. mentally, and physically. When the Israelites went from being slaves (with God’s help). To being free and able to own their own houses and land.
