Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet. He was called to be a prophet before he was born. He was rejected and persecuted for his faith yet he continued to follow God and believed that He was still faithful. This book was Jeremiah’s message to Judah letting them know that their judgment was at hand and that nothing could save them from punishment. Also, if men accept God’s word, it will give life; if they reject it, it will bring condemnation.

Lamentations was written by Jeremiah. It is known as the book of mourning. It’s Jeremiah grieving as he saw his people taken and Jerusalem destroyed. Parts of chapter 5 remind me of our nation today, a fallen nation suffering the consequences of sin. I feel like a lot of true believers today can relate to chapter 5 verses 19-22. Although Jeremiah talks about the reaping of consequences, he also brings hope letting people know that God is faithful no matter what.
