Jeremiah was a young prophet who wept over the sins of the people, yet angry at the same time seeking judgement upon all people for their disobedience. He was a faithful man of God who wanted justice from all the evil people had done. Although he was rejected and persecuted, he continued to speak the truth to all people in Judah as God spoke through him warning them to turn from their sins. Jeremiah was mistreated by everyone, even from his own people who beat him and threw him down a well to die. Yet he stood faithful to God in relating the message of truth to all. In the book of Lamentations Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet which was a poetic expression of pain from sins consequences because people would not repent and turn from their evil ways. Yet he still found hope in The Lord even when everything seemed hopeless. In this book God shows forgiveness and restoration. He always offers restoration to those who turn from their evil ways. He is not only a God of justice but also a God of mercy and wishes none would perish. Because of God’s great love, we are not consumed because He is good to those who find hope and seek Him. My God is faithful and gives us new mercies every morning if we would just repent of our sins.
