This book is on the story of the life of Jeremiah and his prophetic ministry. It goes into his life and personal struggles in great detail and depth I would say more so than any other prophet in the old testament. He was commonly call the “weeping phrophet”. The Lord commanded Jeremiah not to marry or have children and he is commonly called the prophet of doom because she spoke of the judgement coming on Judah.
Jeremiah loved the people of Judah even though they were involved in many sins including at times sacrificing their children to foreign gods. Jeremiah’s job was to announce the judgement on the people of Judah and close out that era in history. Although the judgement was terrible God’s mercy would again rise up and the nation of Israel would be restored.
