God is a fair and just God. He loves His people but He will not change or bend His word for us. Israel suffered because of disobedience to God. If we choose to put things ahead of God that is not acceptable to God. He requires that we put Him first and no other Gods before Him. Whatever we put before Him whether it be a person, possessions, our own personal desires, and so on, those things become our God and replace God in our lives. God won’t force us to make Him our priority but He will allow us to face the consequences of that which lead to destruction and bondage until we repent and turn back to Him wholeheartedly.
