God is a patient, loving, and forgiving God who is moved by the prayers of His people. In Nehemiah chapter 1 versus 5 through 9, Nehemiah prayed to God, repented for his sins and the sins of his family, reminded God of His word, and asked God to give him favor with the King so that he could go to Judah to rebuild the city. God is faithful and answered Nehemiah’s request and made the way for him to go to Judah. This is a reminder to me that if I repent for my sins, pray to God, and ask Him for specific needs to be able to help His people according to His will, God will answer prayer. It must have been very powerful and encouraging when Nehemiah saw God answer His prayer.
