In the book of Esther, we find she was raised by her cousin Mordecai after her parents had past away. They are living in the city of Susa in Persia. Her cousin Mordecai was the one to suggest to her that she “try out” for the “beauty pageant” that King Xerxes was hosting to replace Queen Vashti. After a year of preparation Esther won this contest and became the Queen. It allowed her to become the deliverer of her people,. Hamon who was Xerxes right hand man, he had a plan to rid of all the Jews and take their land because Mordecai wouldn’t bow down to him. What Hamon didn’t know, was that Esther was a Jew herself and by issuing that order, he was unknowingly setting up the Queen to be killed. Mordechai told Esther of Hamon’s plan and told her she needed to go to the King with this information. This wasn’t an easy task. You had to be summoned to go before the king or suffer the consequence. Esther knew the severity of this and knew that it needed to done right away. She went before the King and presented her findings. By doing this she ended up saving her people from genocide.
