The book of 2 Peter teaches and reminds us that when we face difficult situations in life do not let them overtake us but to hold onto the promises of God. Peter understood that there were false teachers that were not teaching the true doctrine but rather teaching worldly ways, thus stunting the growth of believers. Sadly this continues today. The way we combat that is to seek the knowledge of Gods word just as Peter encouraged in his day.
