John emphasized loving God and showing love to your brethren. He made it clear that those that did not show love, did not know God for God is Love, 1 John 4: 7-8 (NLT), “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” In 3John, John also praised his friend Gaius for showing love to traveling Christian workers. Gaius did not know them, but showed them love through caring for them and receiving them in his home. How many of us would be able to do that today for any of our brothers and sisters in Christ?
