Paul instructs Timothy to oppose false teaching and gives instruction on the type of behavior the church should exhibit. He also explains the roles of leaders in the church and the qualifications of each role.
The Ephesian church struggled with church practice and various aspects of Christian living. Paul gave Timothy instructions concerning these matters. He also wrote to encourage Timothy, so that Timothy would not become weary in his Christian life, but that he would live wholeheartedly for the glory of God.
