wow these people where not content to have God as their king they wanted a human king like the nations around them what a mistake in my eyes. Who could ever be a better King than the Lord of Lords but God gave them what they wanted and it did not turn out so good for them. Crazy how Saul eventually disobeyed God and became jealous of David. David was a man whose heart was focused on the Lord at all times as you see when he had 2 chances to kill Saul and he didn’t.
