1 King is part of a sequel of books of 1st and 2nd Samuel Kingship. It Begins with the ending of David’s life. He is passing the Throne onto Solomon his son from Bathsheba. Solomon will go on to build the Lords Temple that will take many years. Solomon will become a great king. Solomon loved the Lord and would follow in his father David’s foot steps except Solomon would offer sacrifices and burn incense at the local places of worship (1 King 3:3) Solomon ask the Lord for Wisdom. The Lord was please with Solomon. He blessed Solomon for many years. This is how we are to teach our children to follow in our foot steps to lead others to Christ. To be pleasing to the Lord. To ask the Lord for Wisdom to guide and direct our path.

1 Kings 1:6 God fearing people like David and Samuel were used by God to lead nations they had family problems just like we do today. David  served God well as king, but as a parent he often failed God and his children.

Elijah was taken to Heaven without dying. He is the second person in scripture to have this honor. 2 Kings 2:11 The only person to be taken to Heaven in bodily form was Jesus after his resurrection from the dead.
