The 3 epistles were written by John, who also wrote the book of Revelation. 1 John focuses on God being light, love, and life. 2 John advises the church to be fervent in love and watchful of deceivers. 3 John gives warns against a leader named Diotrephes but also encourages believers to not do evil but to do good because he who does good is of God.
