Evelia McMahonParticipantThe book of Acts was written by Luke the beloved physician and evangelist. I believe this book is very important because it not only tells us about the teachings of Jesus and conquering death but about his command to the disciples to preach the gospel and to wait for the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecostal his disciples and everyone present received the Holy Spirit which gave them the ability to speak in other languages. The Holy Spirit gave them power to witness in Jerusalem, Judea and the uttermost part of the earth. The Holy Spirit is not only dwelling and given power to witness today but he is guiding and comforting us also.

Eileen AhumadaParticipantIn Acts believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to bear witness to the good news of Jesus Christ among both Jews and Gentiles, and in doing this they establish the church. In Addition to this, Acts explains how Christianity, is in reality the one true religion, rooted in God’s promises from the beginning of time. In the ancient world it was important that a religion be shown to have stood the teat of time. Luke presents the church as the fulfillment and extension of God’s promises. Acts is unique among the New Testament writings in that it main purpose is to record a selective history of the early church following the resurrection of Christ. It is the second part of a two volume work, with the Gospel of Luke being the first volume.

Stephanie ShookParticipantI love this book It talks about being full with the Holy Sprite and speaking in others tongues It was written by Luke who was so loved and he was a physician and spread the word of God among so many people. The name acts is short for the Acts of the Apostles in this book we see men whom we found huddled together in the upper room fearing for their lives are now boldly proclaiming the message of Christ as a result Christianity spreads at a remarkable rate in less than 35 years from Jerusalem to Rome
