Test Minor Prophets 2

Nahum had prophesied that Assyria would be conquered but that Judah would be restored

Nahum 1;7 the Lord is good a stronghold in the day of trouble and he knows those who trust in Him

his ministry had to do with the fall of Assyria and its capital city of Nineveh this took place 100 years after Jonah’s Preaching in Nineveh

Habakkuk he is revered by Jews Christians and Muslims The Lord told him that the righteous shall live by faith

he sees the increased wickedness among the people and wants to know why God allows such iniquity to go unpunished. God told Habakkuk that Babylon would be his chastening rod against Judah

Zephaniah   the theme of the book is the day of the Lord  the prophet sees this approaching as a consequence of the sins of Judah A remnant will be saved through  purification by judgment. He wrote that the day of the Lord was near that it would be a time of wrath that it would come as judgment on sin and that ultimately it would result in the blessing  of God’s presence among his People. The people of Judah had long since turned their backs on God not only in their personal lives but also in their worship

Haggai show his concern for the immediate reconstruction of the Temple in . God used 2 prophets to urge the completion of the Temple Haggai and Zechariah.  Haggai had an important message for the Jews who had recently returned from exile . They had forgotten their God choosing instead to focus on their own interest so it was time for them to consider their ways nothing was more important that to show that the Lord was at the center of their thoughts and actions sh he directed them to finish rebuilding God’s temple

Zachariah he told people what God was saying about the preset time and he told people what God was saying about the future his name means the Lord remembers he taught the people that God remembers his promises. Zachariah had 8 visions. 1. the man on a red horse

2. the 4 horns and the 4 workmen

3. the man who is measuring Jerusalem

4. the chief priest

5. the lamp stand and the 2 olive trees

6. the flying scroll

7.the woman in the basket

8. the 4 chariots

Malachi  means my messenger. In this book the temple has been rebuilt this book talks about Gods people failed again and again and while God will deal with their sin he will not abandon them. He promises to redeem a remnant and send a Messiah to fulfill  his covenant promises

“Victory from the Vision”

Habbakkuk gives us the reminder to write out the vision on the tablets for all to see and it will not tarry. This book shows us the power of a personal dialogue between us and God. It also gives us a “theophany,” or a visible appearance of God. Habakkuk reminds us that the just shall live by faith. We are to live by faith even when we are perplexed by the evil happenings going on around us. Our dialogue should be directed to God, much like Habakkuk’s was. When we can align our vision to God’s vision for the future and our dialogue wills the throneroom of His dwelling place it is then that the victorious visions can be released from His throne into this dispensation. Habakkuk does just this and is given two of the most beautiful visions that the “just shall live by His faith and the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.” We as humans are limited by time, but God who is infinite knows no time and knows when the vision will come to pass. Our job is to allow the vision to come and for us to keep it alive by fighting from victory not for victory. When we do this it will surely come!

The name Nahum given by God which  means comfort. Nahum was a prophet of  Elkosh and brought solace to Judah. He was Gods messenger, he was the one who warned Gods cities about the evil Nineveh which still didn’t end well. He had also made it clear to everyone ” He can handle any and all problems in their individual lives. He has defeated powers far greater than Assyria” while he was Gods messengers.

Haggai

The Lord used Haggai to deliver a message and with all honesty it was abundantly raw. In Haggi 1:3-6, the Lord tells the people about how their efforts were pretty much ridiculous. The people were living large but wasn’t taking care of Gods house. I thought 1:6 NLT was a major diss, “You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!” The Lord demanded that his house be rebuilt. The people were praying and hoping that God would deliver on things they wanted/needed, but God didn’t because they didn’t consider his house. This verse caught my attention, “So the Lord sparked the enthusiasm of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the enthusiasm of Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the enthusiasm of the whole remnant of God’s people. They began to work on the house of their God, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, Haggai 1:14 NLT.” I found it interesting on how God can “spark enthusiasm.” Like, it’s in me already, and I don’t know it. I believe it’s planted in me already on how I’ll react to something and I don’t even know. Like, it’s planned already. This puts me in fear that like, I’m really not in control of my own actions. It makes me feel like I really do need to be afraid of God. Haggai 2:5 is a strong verse. From 2:12-14, I like the example that was stated about being ceremonially unclean. The example about harvest planted and the receiving of the blessing was so relatable, I was awestruck by it. Even with all that, God stated that the seed was planted and that he was gonna bless the people. Praise the Lord!

Zachariah was a servant at heart, he was bringing visions from the Lord to Jerusalem and wanted them to repent and turn away from their wicked ways.  The Lord wanted Zachariah to get Jerusalem to rebuild God’s temple and the Lord wants to spear His people.

Zephaniah

this week I decided to do my writing on the book of Zephaniah. It starts off with the word of the Lord coming to the prophet Zephaniah about judgement that’s coming to Judah and every human, animal and living creature and how God’s children need to repent for all of the wicked things they have done. He also prophesied how judgement will come on all of Judah’s enemies and woo and judgement to Jerusalem and all of the nations. Finally he prophesied into the remnant of Israel. Zephaniah prophesying about the coming messiah; the anointed one, and the end of the age.
