Jonah was a prophet called by God to preach to the people of Nineveh, the capital city of Assyrin. But this story takes a turn for the worst, Jonah rebels against Gods commands by sailing off in the opposite direction of Nineveh, fleeing to another country. While on the ship a storm hits and the sailors and other crew members thought that by going to Jonah he could help because he is a prophet of God, but he begins to explain whys hes on the ship in the first place. Because of his disobedience that led to a storm they threw Jonah off the ship in the sea. Thankfully God is forgiving and send a whale, allowing Jonah shelter until he was spat out onto the the shores of Nineveh. Once Jonah reached the city he preached to the kings and citizens and told them to turn away from their evil ways. Jonah sat from an overview hill top and waited for God to bring down His wrath and judgment upon the people. In Jonah 3:10 ¨When God saw what they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened.¨ The Lord saw the righteous deeds of the people and spared them from His judgment. Jonah became incredibly upset mostly because what he predicted to the people will not come true. The responded by saying ¨Nineveh has more than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the animals. Shouln´t I feel sorry for such a great city?¨ The Lords heart was rejoiceful that the people of Nineveh are now making the steps to be serving under Gods command.
