In Titus, Paul recounted what a prophet of Crete had said about the people of Crete, ” Even one of their own men, a prophet from Crete, has said about them, ‘The people of Crete are all liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons.” Titus 1:12 (NLT) It showed what a tough crowd that Titus was going to work with.  Some today, might even describe today’s world as full of people like the Cretans that Paul described.  Paul still sent Titus there even more because he needed to establish order and encourage the people to live a Godly life through good works.

I think about how many people discouraged Pastor Marco away from the vision that God gave him of reaching the inner cities.  How many leaders probably described San Bernardino as being full of, “liars, cruel animals and lazy gluttons.”  Yet, that did not deter Pastor Marco and Pastor Lisa.  Paul said, “Our people must learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others; then they will not be unproductive.”  I love that a big part of the vision at The Way World Outreach is meeting people’s needs. There is a ton of need out there and there is also a ton of good works for the Church body to do, so they can be productive and continue to further God’s Kingdom and bring salvation to the people.
