We see the panoramic picture of the monarchy of the Davidic line within the 2 books of Chronicles. We see the temple as being constructed as a symbol to the nation of solidarity and a tangible reminder of the high calling to honor and serve God, as well as know He was with them. This sign of solidarity was to be a reminder to respond to God in obedience and humility so that the nation would be divinely directed and protected. Ironically we find ourselves in the very circumstance of the children of Israel today. We have not humbled ourselves, obedience has become obscure and there’s been great power in ambiguity. As the scripture tells us, “IF my people will humble themselves and pray I will hear from heaven and heal their land,” our nation under God has become a nation under the influence of bondage. Just as there was a call to the nations in the Chronicles that same clarion call exists today, will we hear it and heed it or hear it and hate it? The anecdote is clear… IF… THEN… HEAR…HEAL. May the Chronicles of our history not be written as a tragedy, but rather a triumph of obedience to the Lord!
