This book is a culmination of numbers…tribes, people in the tribes and number of years in the wilderness for example. The number 12 is normally associated with perfection or God’s perfect government which was the 12 Tribes of Israel. And the number 40, the number of years this rebellious people wandered in the wilderness represents a time of testing. But in the end God was faithful even when they are not. They did make it to the promised land but not all got to enter. There will always be repercussions for our disobedience. Those who were not faithful did not get to enter the promised land they searched so long for, but their children did.
Lord please lead me and guide me in all I do. Don’t allow me to wonder around aimlessly when your word is there to guide me.
