Numbers was a good illustration showing a newly ressurected nation of Israel as it receives it’s laws, it’s systems, it’s sacrifices and it’s national charter. It largely has Israel in a holding pattern while the book records further steps taken in organizing the nation. It’s central narrative is that of the refusal of the people to go into Canaan. But God still doesn’t give up on His people. He continues to disciple them through all of it in effort to have a new generation ready to fulfill His plan. In this context, Numbers prompts God’s Soveriegnity, His Patience, and His Desires to Bless His people.
