I always enjoyed Exodus because it coincides with us today when we leave the world behind and follow Jesus. Yes God took the Israelites out of Egypt but he had to spend forty years taking the Egypt out of the Israelites. He gave the people a leader, Moses, the law, and the Tabernacle. So many resources but yet the comfort of Egypt sounded more appealing. We can be tempted to do the same today and we must remember that the promise land awaits as long as we remain obedient to Gods instruction.
