What I got out of 1st and kings was that there was alot of division because people being disobedient. It talks about the death of KING David and appointing his son Solomon to rule the people of Israel. The Lord asked Solomon what is it he wanted and Solomon replied that he wanted to be wise about ruling the people of Israel and God not only made him the wisest man around but also gave him fame and riches and yet he still chose in the end to disobey Gods commandments this goes to show us that we all fall short of the glory of of God and yet he still forgives but we must rememeber that there is consequences for everything we do like the word says we reap what we sow
