In these two books, we see the reign of King Solomon, David’s son. He reigned for 40 years. He started out asking God for wisdom but ended up sinning against God. The kingdom was split into two, Northern and Southern. There was found zero righteous kings in the North and eight righteous kings in the South. Elijah the prophet rules over the North then Elisha after him. 1 Kings talks about the division that is brought by disobedience and 2 Kings talks about how willful sin brings upon dreadful consequences.
