These two books give a historical run down of kings and kingdoms in a chronological format. The vital lesson learned from these books is a nation’s response to God is the decisive factor in its history. 1 Chronicles mentions David’s reign and how he prepared for the temple to be built. 2 Chronicles mentions Solomon’s reign, his desire to please God, his request for wisdom and God’s promise to him, and the building of the temple. This book also talks about Judah’s history and its captivity. When the king and the people honored God there was peace and prosperity, but when a king and the people were unfaithful to God there was adversity. Let us learn from this, humble ourselves, turn from our wicked ways and and honor the Lord so he will hear our prayers and heal our land.
