The book of first Samuel is a book of establishment in that it is establishing order for those who will come into their purpose.Not only is it preparing and establishing those for their purpose it is also the beginning of the prophetic office. Even amongst this order and establishment the people manage to put a demand on their desires. They demand a king and are willing to settle for God’s second best and sacrifice God’s divine will. They are blind to what God is doing and, as humans often do, try to make it happen for themselves sacrificing the plan God has already put into motion. This book is a reminder to me to trust in the preparation process God is establishing so that His purpose will be produced in my life.
