The Greek meaning of Deuteronomy is second law and this book recaps to the new generation that will be entering the promise land, the laws that were giving to the Israelites that left Egypt. Their is a warning to them to obey the law.

Deuteronomy also recaps the travels of the israelites thru the wilderness.  The Lord showed his love by providing for them protecting them, and taking their descendants to the promised land although he called them stick stiff necks because of their lack of trust and disobedience.

Deuteronomy also details the blessings that you will have if you follow the Commandments and obey God and the curses that you will have if you disobey.   It’s all up to the individual.

Moses let’s God’s children know of all the struggles they have been through. God intervened in his children’s plight, their rebellion and punishment. Moses informs them the blessings that come from following, obeying God’s commandments. Also the curses of not following and obeying His commandments.

    Deuteronomy

This chapter I feel God’s true frustration with the Israelites. Like God is trying to repeat himself so it can sink into their heads as well as ours of his commands and what he has done for us . He knows what is to happen and that He will hide His face from them. But he puts out this hope.

Deuteronomy is the final book of Moses.   It gets its name from the Greek deuteros, which means “second”, and nomos, meaning “Law”.  Here we have a second giving of the law a new expounding of the new generation. It is not the giving of a new law, but an explication , a giving in detail, that which was already given.   It is a book of transition.  In Deuteronomy we have the wonderful words of Gods Love. Moses was 120 years old when he died.  He is the only man God buried. He was raised and glorified and he appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration. Luke 9:30-31.
