2 Peter is a vivid but awful depiction of apostasy and the dangers of it. The main culprit of apostasy is compromise. Compromise is like a lethal octopus that stretches out its tentacles to infiltrate the church and suffocate the life out of it. 2 Peter warns us of the dangers of compromising Christ and giving way to false teachers. If we compromise Christ we compromise our eternity and everything the cross did to secure it. It is imperative to keep Christ as the core to all we say and do taking caution to uphold every jot and tittle of the word.
